Pregnancy Changes Your Body
Pregnancy brings rapid and sometimes unfamiliar physical changes. As posture shifts, ligaments soften, and your centre of gravity changes, many women notice general aches and pains, stiffness, or tension, particularly around the lower back, hips, and pelvic area. These changes are common during pregnancy and can vary throughout each trimester.
For many women, the hardest part isn’t just how the body feels, but knowing what kind of help during pregnancy is safe, appropriate, and worth exploring.

Techniques Used During Pregnancy
Techniques used during pregnancy are modified and gentle. Depending on your stage of pregnancy, care may include:
-
Light spinal and joint mobilisation
-
Soft tissue therapy adapted for pregnancy
-
Gentle chiropractic adjustments
-
Pregnancy-specific positioning using a pregnancy pillow or a table designed to accommodate comfort
I also have training in the Webster Technique, a form of prenatal chiropractic care that uses gentle methods during pregnancy. This technique does not claim to influence pregnancy or birth outcomes and is always adapted to individual comfort and circumstances.

Care Throughout Each Stage of Pregnancy
Care is adapted whether you are in your first trimester, adjusting to physical changes later in pregnancy, or approaching the third trimester as you prepare your body for labour and delivery. The aim is to support confidence in movement throughout pregnancy, without making claims about outcomes for pregnancy and labour, labour, or childbirth.
A Simple, Reassuring Plan
If you choose to see a chiropractor during pregnancy, the process is straightforward:
Who This Care May Be Suitable For
You may wish to explore prenatal chiropractic if you:
-
Are experiencing pregnancy discomfort or general back pain
-
Want gentle, hands-on care during pregnancy
-
Would like guidance around posture and movement
-
Prefer a calm, non-forceful approach
Care is always optional and designed to complement your existing maternity care for mother and baby.

Working Alongside Your Maternity Team
Chiropractic care is intended to complement, not replace, care from your GP, midwife, or obstetric team. Communication or referral to other professionals is encouraged where appropriate, including during the postpartum period if needed.
Feel Supported Throughout Your Pregnancy Journey
If you’re experiencing changes in posture, pain and discomfort, or general stiffness that feels common pregnancy, chiropractic care may be something you’d like to explore as part of your pregnancy journey.
You’re welcome to book an appointment at the chiropractic clinic or get in touch with any questions.
